Don't cancel your Saturday plans! I've been getting this question a lot. :)
Yes, we will have some storms, but that's just because it is Florida and it's the rainy season.
POSSIBLE ERIKA IMPACT BY LATE SUNDAY NIGHT...
The 8am update from the National Hurricane Center has Erika on a track directly over Hispaniola today. It is possible the mountainous terrain will really weaken or tear Erika apart.
If Erika survives the day, there will be time for the storm to slowly strengthen as it moves northwest toward Florida.
The latest forecast has Erika as a strong Tropical Storm moving up through Florida from late Sunday through Wednesday. For us, the impact would be from late Sunday through at least the first part of Tuesday.
If Erika clears Hispaniola later tonight, computer models should come into much better agreement, giving us a much better idea of where this storm is heading and when.
If a Tropical Storm Watch is issued for our area, it will be later today or tomorrow morning.
