I think that this is a fantastic "trial run" in the event that we do have a major storm this season. Afterall...we are just in the beginning of the active season. Keep up the great work!

As we approach the August/September climatology and most of the storms form off the African coast and Azores, what are the major steering forces that we look for that help STEEER AWAY storm from the Americas?

Great job Kait!
by Michael8/3/2011 9:51:57 PM
Kait - did you say Emily will not be near the Western Carribean Islands Aug 7 - Aug 14??? Thanks.

no hurricane questions-just wanted to say that you are a welcomed pretty sight on WPTV, One thing though-get rid of the saying "at this point in time". It's really overdone and redundant. Undewise-keep up the good work!
by Lonnie8/3/2011 9:52:56 PM
When will we really know if it is coming this way or close to affect us.
by Dawn Trueblood8/3/2011 9:53:14 PM
Not sure if my previous comment was posted or not. I saw James share the WPTV Interactive Weather Center for the iPad and iPhone and said that it is free. I just checked and it looks like it costs $3.99. Is it going to be free anytime soon or will it continue to cost $3.99 for the iPad? Thanks!
by Terry8/3/2011 9:55:06 PM

From Facebook fan, Anthony Rosati: "What direction will the winds be from on Emily's closest approach to the south Florida coast?"
by Mollie Reynolds8/3/2011 9:57:12 PM
that was weird with the delay...
by Dawn Trueblood8/3/2011 10:04:06 PM
First - My wife and I love your work. Second - Does this storm depend on the timing of the high coming through?

Do the different colors of the "spaghetti" lines have any significance or is it just for ease of view.
by big fan8/3/2011 10:05:17 PM
Why are they called spaghetti plots? They're thinner, more like angel hair

by Scott from Boca Raton8/3/2011 10:11:34 PM
Leaving tomorrow on a cruise to the Bahamas. The cruise line assured us that the cruise is still on and that they will just avoid it. Looks like we will be floating around in the ocean instead of making port in the Bahamas?? :( Have you guys received any updated info on cruise ship ports or buoy reports of wave height?
by Aimee Lynn8/3/2011 10:12:56 PM

Hurricane party time or just enough rain to ruin Saturday - don't answer "my question" - just if you need a filler - I have asked too many
