The 2nd group in the men's snowboard halfpipe has started. Shaun White will be up shortly.
Americans Shaun White, Taylor Gold and Danny Davis need to finish at least in the top 9 of their group to advance to the semifinals.
Also, some women's cross country sprint quarterfinals results are starting to trickle in. No Americans have qualified for the semis just yet, but we'll keep you posted.
Alright, Taylor Gold of USA is up and about to start his run.
Nice run by Gold. He had a couple close calls, but landed everything and got a solid score of 81.50.
Shaun White does Shaun White-type things and has a great opening run. Looked effortless and comes with huge score of 95.75. Dude is a stud.
Briefly going back to men's curling, Team USA was defeated by China 9-4. The two U.S. curling teams are a combined 0-4 at these Olympics.
Danny Davis has still yet to go in his snowboard halfpipe run. He'll be the second to last of group 2 before it resets for riders' second runs. Shaun White is already booked into the finals and Taylor Gold is in good position to join Greg Brentz in the semifinals.
Greetings, readers. I'm taking over liveblog host duties for the remainder of the afternoon. The big events we're tracking are:
- Women's Luge finals (singles)
- Women's Ski Jumping (normal hill)
- And, of course, the Men's halfpipe (snowboarding)
The fourth and final run for Women's Luge singles is about to get underway. First up is Summer Britcher from Team USA.
