Russia has pulled ahead of the U.S. now in women's curling, 5-4 after 6.
The U.S. women gave up a lead in their loss to Switzerland the other day, too.
Over at skiing, there's just one more American left in the women's slopestyle. That will be Julia Krass, going off three skiers from now. Looks like Devin Logan will safely qualify.
Americans Devin Logan and Julia Krass are 4-5 in the women's slopestyle qualifier.
It's still 5-4 in favor of Russia over the U.S. in women's curling action. The U.S. men's curling team faces China beginning at 5 a.m.
And the U.S. has tied it with Russia, 6-6 after 6 in women's curling.
Canadian skier Kaya Turski is down on the hill after losing a ski and falling hard.
She's getting back up, though. She's OK, but obviously disappointed with her run. Would have liked to join her three Canadian teammates towards the top of the leaderboard. That's it for the first qualification runs, with one more per skier left before the field is cut for the finals.
The 2-run qualification system for slopestyle is that only the best run counts. No scores carry over, so American Keri Herman and Kaya Turski of Canada could easily bounce back.
Herman and Turski were the favorites for U.S. and Canada, respectively, entering the women's slopestyle. Given how well fellow Americans and Canadians performed in the first qualifying run, if those two bounce back there could be a USA vs. Canada heavy slopestyle final.
Second runs for women's slopestyle qualifying have started. Another nasty fall out of the gates, this one by Philomena Bair of Austria. There have been a few wipeouts so far.
I still can't get over the giant nesting doll in the middle of the slopestyle course. Gets me every time.
And it's coming down to the wire for the U.S. women's curling team against Russia. Team USA trails 7-5 after 8.
Keri Herman with a bunch better run this time around. Lands everything and should be into the final.
Herman's official score is 72.40, which is the best of these second runs so far. She seems happy with it. Sh'es in ninth place overall right now and needs to stay in the top 12.
