MIAMI (AP) -- Florida Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson will face Republican Connie Mack IV in November after each easily won his respective primary.
Nelson had about 80 percent of the vote in early returns Tuesday while Mack had almost 60 percent. Both had been heavy favorites.
Their wins set up a contest for the seat once held by Mack's father, Connie Mack III.
ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -- Fla. Congressman John Mica beats Congresswoman Sandy Adam in primary battle of GOP incumbents.
Patrick Murphy extended his lead in the Democratic primary for the District 18 congressional seat.
Murphy has garnered almost 80 percent of the 20,971 votes tallied so far in St. Lucie, Martin and northern Palm Beach counties. Jim Horn and Jerry Buechler trail far behind with roughly 12 percent and 9 percent, respectively. tcpalm.com reports
Former Martin County Commissioner Michael DiTerlizzi narrowly defeated challenger Jacki Jackson for the District 5 seat on the Martin County School Board Tuesday.
Another seat on the nonpartisan board was up for grabs after Tuesday’s primary election, but voters won't decide who will fill the District 2 seat till November: former board member Tony George or political newcomer Marsha Powers.
Because none of the candidates in the three-person race that also included Jeff Ralicki garnered a majority, a runoff is needed. tcpalm.com reports
Update 8:30 p.m.: With substantial results in from Palm Beach County, the Sun-Sentinel is projecting the re-election of Sheriff Ric Bradshaw, Clerk of Courts Sharon Bock and Property Appraiser Gary Nikolits; Democratic primary victory for incumbent Tax Collector Anne Gannon, and election of Peter Evans to the County Judge, Group 4 position.
The Sun-Sentinel is now projecting victory for Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections Susan Bucher.
STUART—Martin County Property Appraiser Laurel Kelly won a seventh term in office Tuesday and broke her record for margin of victory over six-time challenger Rick Lussy.

FORT PIERCE — Vince Gaskin and Linda Hudson will face off in a Nov. 6 runoff to be the next mayor.
Gaskin took 28.31 percent of the votes while Hudson had 23.89 percent in Tuesday's primary election. If a candidate didn't receive more than 50 percent of the votes, the top two vote-getters have a runoff. Reported by: tcpalm.com
