Thank your for all of your interest. Unfortunately we are out of time. Keep an eye on those bank statements!
Dawn, receiving a letter from the IRS would not be related to this issue. I would make sure to check out that information very carefully.
Kerri: I would be sure to get a manager or directly contact Visa or MasterCard.
Barbara, if you cannot get through on the phone or the website, I would go to a Target store directly for more assistance.
Thank YOU for the fantastic questions and help!
No. Online users are safe as of the current information/findings.
Cathy, If you closed your account, it would prevent anybody from using that account's information in the future.
Entirely posible LaVerne! My appologies and thank you very much for the positive feedback!
Leah: ALL credit, debit and other cards used at Target stores.
Karen, the information stolen from Target would not be related to any previous thefts that occurred. This situation would only affect you if you went shopping at Target.
Kim: You do not have to call your bank and it may be difficult to get them in any case. However, be SURE to check ALL of your credit card statements carefully!
I have not heard that Barbara but there is a lot of legitimate news and misinformation durring major breakins like this. I would still suggest extra caution.
Lee, yes if that is the only card you used, changing it would put you in the clear.
Neil, Target did not tell us when the problem was solved. I would play it safe an pay attention to your statements.
Thank YOU Audrey! Stay tuned for more info and help...
Any card that was actually used at a Target store is at risk.
Susan, it sounds like your situation has been fixed. They no longer have any information related to your active accounts.
Sherri: You are very welcome. Stay tuned for more details and help!
Audrey, it doesn't hurt to change your PIN number, but it doesn't prevent the thieves from using your information. Unfortunately, not all purchases require a PIN number to be completed.
Sherri: I would assume the entire day was breached.
Not to worry Ashley. Just check your credit card statements carefully and call if you see any problems. Unfortunately... you should continue to check every month and a theft can occur many months later.
Judy, Targets phone number is (888)-852-8680
Lee, They have found that about 40 million transactions were stolen over that time period. They have not told us how many actual transactions occurred. To be safe, I would assume that yes, all transactions were stolen.
Susan: Only cards you actually used in Target on those dates.
Sherri: It was a breach from Nov 27 all the way until December 15
Flowanne, your debit/credit cards should be safe now at Target and elsewhere as well. However, it never hurts to continue to keep a close eye on your statements.
Lee, if you cancel your card your bank may hold you responsible for the charges. That would be a decision you would need to discuss with your bank.
Sloane: You are generally still safe but there is a lot of personal information that was stollen that could help toward stealing your identiy.
BIM: That is one day before the claimed window. But always better to be safe and keep an eye out.
